The Yellowfront Grocery in Damariscotta was robbed shortly after midnight June 6. According to Yellowfront owner Jeff Pierce, two thieves were observed on the store’s surveillance system beginning sometime around 12:30 a.m.
The thieves broke into the store safe, taking the cash and sales receipts from Friday’s business. Pierce said he is offering a $1000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators.
Damariscotta Police have been called and are currently investigating. “They have been great,” Pierce said.
Although slightly hampered by a lack of cash on hand, Peirce said the store is open for business as usual.
“We are out some cash but we have product to sell,” Pierce said.
The Lincoln County News will have a complete report in the June 11 print and electronic editions.
