Bremen voters approved the expenditure of $17,000 from the Fire Truck Reserve account to replace the outboard motor and update radar and electronics on the town’s rescue boat.
Selectman Hank Nevins said, June 11, approximately a dozen voters attended the special election, June 7.
The 1976 Boston Whaler is used for firefighting and search and rescue missions and the new equipment will help firefighters communicate with one another and with Marine Patrol and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Other changes will make it possible for the boat to safely carry two patients on Stokes baskets, with room for emergency personnel to assist them, Fire Chief Ken Vinal said May 31.
