A Bristol man is in satisfactory condition at Maine Medical Center after crashing another man’s car early Sept. 11, possibly while under the influence of alcohol.
Tobin Burnham, 30, of Bristol, was traveling west on Upper Round Pond Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and struck a tree.
Burnham suffered “incapacitating injuries,” including abrasions and bruises to his head, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO). He was wearing a seatbelt.
Deputy Justin Drake responded to the scene after receiving the call at 6:58 a.m.
The Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service transported Burnham to Miles Memorial Hospital. Burnham was subsequently transferred to Maine Memorial Center and remains at the Portland hospital in satisfactory condition, a spokeswoman said.
The 1983 Chevrolet passenger car, which sustained “disabling damage,” is registered to Brian Pendleton, of Newcastle, LCSO Lt. Rand Maker said.
At press time, no charges have been filed, Maker said. The agency suspects alcohol “to be a factor” and is awaiting the results of a blood test, with charges “probably” pending.
The accident remains under investigation, Maker said.
