The construction of an authentic replica of a 1600s dwelling is underway at Colonial Pemaquid. The 16 x 12 foot early settlers’ dwelling is timber-framed and is now being covered and sheathed in wattle and daub.
On Thurs., Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. on, workers and volunteers are needed to help with the daubing process, which consists of covering the wattle (a weaving of sticks and branches) with a plaster-like mixture of clays, mud, and plant fibers.
Come and join in and add a personal touch to this unique 17th century building reproduction. Rubber gloves will be provided although volunteers can certainly bring their own.
