The popular and traditional St. Giles Country Fair is scheduled for Sat., July 31, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Jefferson. This 56th annual staging of the event under the tall pines on the church grounds includes an auction of local treasures — among them this year a 17-foot boat and 70 hp Yamaha motor.
For the first time ever, the fair is offering a full lobster-roll luncheon, in addition to the usual hot dogs (with fried onions) and delicious homemade pies and other baked goods.
A special feature of this year’s event will be music from noted folk and blues singers Pixie Lauer and Dan Townsend, who will accompany themselves on guitar in what is expected to be a lively and fun-filled performance. Other attractions include new and homemade items at a general store, children’s items & entertainment (including a clown), hundreds of books, white elephant table, and a raffle of a full-size hand-made quilt and other valuable goods.
The Auction is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon, and the music follows the auction. St. Giles Episcopal Church is located at 72 Gardiner Road (Rte. 126). See the Country Fair page at www.stgilesjefferson.org/countryfair.html for more information, including a map or call 549-3869.
