A Damariscotta man sustained multiple broken bones when a car hit him in the crosswalk between Coastal Marketplace and Mobius Inc., in Damariscotta Oct. 19.
Jay Tattan, 28, of Damariscotta, was released from Maine Medical Center Oct. 23.
Michael Rose, 41, of Boothbay Harbor, was driving north on Bus. Rt. 1 in a 1994 Mercedes Benz at about 6:09 p.m. when he “failed to see [Tattan] in the crosswalk” and hit him, Lt. Rand Maker of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.
LCSO is investigating the accident and it’s “too early to say” whether Rose will be charged, Maker said. “It was a wet, dark night,” he said, and Tattan was wearing dark clothing. The investigators will consider those factors as they move forward, he said.
Business Rt. 1 was briefly closed while emergency personnel treated Tattan and LCSO gathered evidence.
Central Lincoln County Ambulance transported Tattan to Miles Memorial Hospital. He was later transferred to Maine Medical Center.
The Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service, Damariscotta Fire Dept., Damariscotta Police Dept., Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Maine Marine Patrol responded to the scene.
