A report of a fight and a subject with a shotgun led to the arrests of three men at Ledgewood Court in Damariscotta shortly after 7:30 p.m. March 12.
Kenneth Mayes, 44, of Damariscotta, faces a felony charge of domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence assault.
The report of a shotgun-toting subject turned out to be false, Damariscotta Police officer Jason Warlick said.
Mayes, however, while in a fistfight with a male relative, threatened the man with a knife, Warlick said.
Jason Bent, 23, of Walpole, faces a misdemeanor charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution.
Bent allegedly took the knife from Mayes, hid it and has declined to disclose the hiding place to police.
Police also arrested Bent’s father, Mark Bent, 50, of Damariscotta. Bent is subject to bail conditions that forbid the possession and consumption of alcohol. Police said he was intoxicated at the scene and had alcohol in his apartment.
Mark Bent faces one count of obstructing government administration, two counts of misdemeanor violation of condition of release and a civil charge of use of drug paraphernalia.
All three men were transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail and subsequently released on $1500 (Mark Bent) and $1000 (Jason Bent and Mayes) unsecured bail, a booking officer said.
All three men are forbidden from returning to Ledgewood Court, Warlick said.
Ledgewood Court is an affordable housing development on Piper Mill Road.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Waldoboro Police Dept. assisted the Damariscotta Police at the scene.
