Damariscotta Police is urging pedestrians to exercise extreme caution when walking in Damariscotta’s downtown area. Ice falling from downtown rooftops may pose a safety hazard, particularly for pedestrians walking on Damariscotta sidewalks.
In at least one instance, Jan. 19, ice falling from the Lincoln Theater building damaged a car parked on Theater Street early Jan. 19.
“We just want people to be aware of it,” said a department spokesperson. “Obviously we can’t cone off the whole downtown but it’s a problem.”
