The Damariscotta Police Department is warning area businesses and residents to be on the lookout for fake $20 bills after one was used at a local business on Sunday, Aug.5.
“We are asking businesses to be vigilant and pay attention when taking money in, because where there’s one fake bill, there are typically more,” Damariscotta Police Chief Jason Warlick said.
If an individual uses what is believed to be a fake bill, employees are encouraged to get a description of the individual and notify law enforcement immediately, Warlick said.
