At the end of a contentious meeting Wednesday night, the Damariscotta Board of Selectmen voted to remove Josh Pinkham as chairman of the board and elect Dick McLean as chairman.
Ed Stelzer made the motion to remove Pinkham as chair, which was seconded by Dave Wilbur.
“I view my reputation and the reputation of the board very seriously,” Stelzer said. “I don’t like the observations of people being publicly ridiculed, it affects morale. I am not comfortable with the leadership of the board.”
The selectmen made it official with a three-to-one vote, with Pinkham abstaining.
“I feel as though I was set up tonight. Like a dog; you can push me aside every once in awhile, and I’ll still be happy to come back,” Pinkham said. “I want my constituents to rest assured, my vote does still count, and I will continue to do my job in a productive and ethical manner.”
