A Damariscotta woman has been sentenced to a year in jail for attempting to mail oxycodone to a man she met on a dating website.
Jennifer J. Rosa, 37, pleaded guilty Nov. 9 to class B aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs, class C unlawful possession of oxycodone, and class E leaving scene of an accident involving property damage, according to court documents.
Rosa was sentenced to nine months for the furnishing charge and three months for the possession charge. The sentences will run consecutively, bringing the total sentence to a year in jail. A 30-day jail sentence for the class E charge will run concurrently.
Rosa must also pay a $400 fine for the furnishing conviction. She owes a total of $1,815.20 in fines from the furnishing conviction and prior convictions.
The drug crimes stem from Rosa’s attempt to mail marijuana and six 5-milligram Percocet pills from Mail It 4 U in Newcastle July 29, according to an affidavit by Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Special Agent Jason Pease.
“Rosa admitted she was sending the pills and marijuana to a man she had met on a dating site,” Pease said in the affidavit. “Rosa also admitted she has sent him marijuana in the past, but this was the first time for the oxycodone pills.”
Oxycodone is the primary active ingredient in Percocet.
The conviction for leaving the scene of an accident stems from an incident on Route 1 in Newcastle at 3:35 a.m. April 4, according to court documents.
Rosa was on probation for a prior conviction of class C unlawful possession of oxycodone at the time of her arrest July 29. She was sentenced to a fully suspended four years in prison, two years of probation, and a $400 fine Oct. 30, 2014.
Rosa admitted to violating her probation conditions Nov. 9, and will serve her new sentences concurrently with a nine-month partial probation revocation.
