The Dresden Board of Selectmen agreed to place seven tax-acquired properties up for bid at their bimonthly meeting Aug. 30. All seven properties are vacant.
According to Chair John Rzasa, the properties have been town-owned for several years now. “It’s time,” said Rzasa.
“We’ve given notices, there’s nothing else we can do,” said Selectman Allan Moeller.
The selectmen voted unanimously to place the properties up for bid. All seven lots will be sold individually.
In other business, the Board of Selectmen decided to explore the possibility of using Corelogic, a provider of financial, property, and consumer information, to place tax records of certain properties online for citizens to research.
While all three selectmen said such a tool would be useful, they determined that it would be prudent to look at other towns that use the same service before making a commitment.
“We’ll do a little more poking around,” said Rzasa.
The Board signed the final tax commitment for the Town of Dresden Aug. 30. Dresden was assessed a total tax commitment of almost $1.7 million dollars, collected by a mil rate of 13.9, and increase of .3 over the previous fiscal year.
“Nothing is going down,” said Rzasa.
In other business, selectmen confirmed the Town Office will be closed for a week beginning Sept. 13 to have the office floor repaired and urged citizens of Dresden to plan accordingly.
