Traffic was diverted from the intersection of Main and Jefferson streets in Waldoboro, after a vehicle ran a stop sign and hit a boat and trailer June 28.
Zachary Melvin, 17, of Waldoboro was towing the Princecraft metal skiff on a trailer behind a red 1997 Ford F150 pickup truck, westbound on Main Street.
As Melvin’s vehicle entered the intersection, the vehicle was struck at the hitch by a white 2007 Ford F150 pickup truck, owned by SBA Network Service Inc., of Boca Raton, Fla., traveling south on Jefferson Street.
According to Waldoboro Police Officer Sean Kozer, the driver of the white truck, Tyler Segal, 28, of Portland, said he did not see the stop sign.
Upon impact, the trailer assembly pivoted into the oncoming lane and rolled over, blocking traffic in both lanes for approximately 45 minutes.
Damage to the trucks and trailer totaled more than the mandatory state reporting threshold of $1000.
Hillside Collision Center removed the boat, trailer and white truck from the scene. There were no injuries.
Waldoboro Police and Fire Depts., responded to the scene. Kozer said neither alcohol nor speed contributed to the accident.
The Lincoln County News’ Honora Perkins contributed to the story on-scene.
