Families rocked around many Christmas trees during the Edgecomb Eddy School’s Charlie Brown Christmas tree event on Friday, Dec. 12.
Students and their families braved the chilly evening to visit with Santa, heat up by a bonfire, and watch the meticulously decorated Christmas trees light up during Edgecomb’s annual holiday tradition.
“Thank you all for coming out tonight to celebrate with us,” said Edgecomb Eddy School Principal Laura Mewa. “I am struck by the magic of this community.”
Edgecomb Eddy School students contributed to the holiday magic by making ornaments for each grade’s respective tree.
Finn Cavallari, 9, said his class wrapped yarn around their tree to make it stand out. He said he and his classmates also helped the preschool students decorate their tree.
Though there are plenty of fun events nearby to celebrate the holidays, Rosie Cavallari, 6, said the Charlie Brown event is near the top of her list.
“It’s one of my favorite (Christmas events) of the year,” she said.
This year’s festivities had some new additions including Santa’s arrival via an Edgecomb fire truck and the outdoor bonfire. Select board member Forrest Carver said former Edgecomb Eddy School Committee member Jesse Wright had the ideas to add to the event’s holiday cheer.
Though she helped with lots of the organizing, Edgecomb Eddy Parent Teacher Club President Audrey Blagdon said the community came together to make the event happen. From Arianna Johnson, of Briarwood Photography, taking pictures of kids hanging out with Santa to Healthy Kids providing pizza, she said many people donated their time and resources to help out.
“The town really came together,” Blagdon said.
