A fire in a permanently affixed mobile home in Waldoboro, Aug. 28, was caused by an accidental electrical malfunction.
That was the determination of the Maine Fire Marshal’s office in the aftermath of the blaze that brought firefighters from Waldoboro, Warren, Friendship, Nobleboro and Cushing to 540 Old Route One shortly before 2 p.m. on the afternoon of Aug. 27.
According to Waldoboro Asst. Fire Chief Bill Maxwell, the structure was a total loss.
A family of two adults and a child lived in the home. A dog and cat were in the dwelling at the time the fire started and were rescued by Fire Chief Paul Smeltzer.
“Paul was the first at the scene,” Maxwell said Aug. 28.
There were no injuries as a result of the blaze. Waldoboro Emergency Medical Services was on hand to provide support to the firefighters.
Central Maine Power Company employees disconnected power to the building and firefighters drenched the structure with water. There are no other buildings at the site.
Medomak Veterinary Services also responded to the call.
