Damariscotta received more than $20,000 in additional payments from the estate of Richard Else earlier this month.
The amount represents the final distributions from the Else estate, according to Damariscotta Town Manager Matt Lutkus.
The payments bring the total of Else’s bequests – designated, following Else’s wishes, for sidewalk construction – to $199,314.73.
According to Else’s obituary in The Lincoln County News, the former carpenter and antique dealer, a native of New York City, died Jan. 24, 2010 at the age of 95.
Else, according to information provided by Damariscotta, was a longtime resident active in civic affairs.
He also left generous bequests to Lincoln Academy, Lincoln Theater, Miles Memorial Hospital and Skidompha Library.
