Ice falling from a rooftop in downtown Damariscotta severely damaged two cars and forced the closure of Main Street for about an hour Feb.7
No one was injured in the incident that occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. Damariscotta Police and firefighters closed the street until the two vehicles were removed from the scene by two separate flatbed trucks.
According to a eyewitness, the falling ice sounded “like an avalanche” and looked like a “wall of white” coming down.
