A 59 year old Alna man was killed early Saturday night when his vehicle overturned after crashing into a guardrail near Dock Rd. on Rt. 218.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Steven Walker was the sole occupant of the 2000 Ford Taurus station wagon vehicle at the time of the accident. Walker died at the scene despite wearing his seatbelt and the deployment of the vehicle’s airbags.
According to a preliminary investigation by the LCSO, as the Walker vehicle proceeded down a hill and into a slight left curve around 7:27 p.m., the vehicle entered the opposing travel lane and began to rotate counter-clockwise. The vehicle then returned to the north bound travel lane where it struck a guard rail, went airborne and came to rest in a field on its roof.
The primary investigating officer is Deputy Henry Grenier who was assisted by Sgt. Daniel Sceviour. LCSO Crash Reconstruction Specialist Sgt. Jason Nein is conducting a reconstruction of the crash.
Members of the Alna Fire, Wiscasset Fire & Rescue and Wiscasset Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.
The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
