Bristol and South Bristol firefighters and a state forest ranger extinguished a brush fire at 306 Route 129 in Walpole the afternoon of April 22.
The fire was the result of an unpermitted burn that grew out of control, South Bristol Assistant Fire Chief Gunnar Gunderson said.
The South Bristol Fire Department was paged to the fire at about 1 p.m. The firefighters were able to quickly control the fire and prevent it from spreading to a nearby barn.
“We thank Bristol for helping us,” Gunderson said. “Mutual aid is a really good thing. It really works when you need help.”
The firefighters cleared the scene about two hours after the initial page.
