Dave Joy, assistant manager of the Hannaford Bros. Supermarket on Bus. Rt. 1 in Damariscotta said the store is open, following an evening of excitement Dec. 18.
The Damariscotta Fire Department was called to the store at about 11:20 p.m. for a report of smoke coming from a frozen food case.
According to Joy, the night crew working called the fire department to report the problem, then called Joy at his home in Boothbay. He arrived at the store to assist his crew.
“We had a small fire on top of an electrical board of the frozen food case. There was no loss of food; we emptied them out immediately,” Joy said.
Damariscotta Fire attended to the burned out electrical board, Joy called in a crew to fix the case, and at 9 a.m. Dec. 19, reported the case was fixed, the frozen food restored, with no damage or injury to anyone involved.
