John Bragg, Physician Recruiter, is the Pen Bay Healthcare Employee of the Month honoree for January 2012.
“John is one of those individuals who draws no line in the sand when it comes to his job responsibilities. No job is too insignificant for him to jump in and assist with if it will further the success of recruitment for Pen Bay Medical Center.” says Cindy Hutchinson, director, MSSS.
Roy Hitchings, former Pen Bay CEO, said, “John has been a great addition to our physician recruiting and retention efforts and has produced great success. He is a very hard worker who is willing to work many off-shift hours during evenings and weekends when a lot of physician recruiting happens. A recent recruit who received many offers said that his personal professional touch was the difference in her coming to Pen Bay. I think he has made a huge positive contribution to our mission and plans.”
Bragg’s colleagues, physician leaders and new recruits echoed these sentiments in support of his nomination as Employee of the Month. Many fellow employees remarked that his dedication to physician recruiting and retention efforts produced outstanding results in his first two years here including the recruitment of eighteen physicians and management of temporary physicians. His efforts saved Pen Bay Medical Center well over $100,000 in the first year.
Numerous examples of John’s caring personality, conscientious, discrete manners and “contagious enthusiasm” were equally expressed. Said a new recruit, “I’d give him all my votes for the rest of the year. John is a guy who goes over and above 24/7.”
His response to the nomination was, “I am truly humbled to receive this honor. My work doesn’t happen in a vacuum, I work with a great team of folks and a wonderful medical staff here at Pen Bay.”
While Bragg has worked at Pen Bay for only 2-1/2 years, his enthusiasm for the Midcoast area is shown in the many community organizations he has participated in since relocating to the area 16 years ago. Bragg is the current president of the Trekkers organization, is past president of the Rockland Rotary Club, volunteers with Rockland Little League, and is a certified umpire for high school baseball and softball. Bragg was also recognized last fall as a Fellow of the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters.
The Pen Bay community celebrated Bragg’s selection as Employee of the Month with a surprise party and cupcakes emblazoned with his initials.
