At their regular meeting on Oct. 4, the Jefferson School Committee, AOS 93 Superintendent Bob Bouchard announced construction on the new Jefferson Village School is a little behind schedule, but is probably still on track to open for the 2011/12 school year.
Bouchard will be meeting with representatives from the state and Bowman Contractors, the company handling the construction, on Thursday for a detailed update on the construction schedule.
“We’re nervous, but there doesn’t seem to be any reason to panic at this point,” said Robert Westrich, Chairman of the Jefferson School Committee.
Bouchard and JVS Principal Peter Gallace also told the board that progress is being made on choosing designs for the interior of the building, and that the school will be making decisions about furniture and technology for the building soon.
“We’re getting some demo tables and chairs for the students and teachers to try out, Gallace said. The school is also preparing to review proposals for technology packages.
The technology package for the building will include computers, projectors, servers and other equipment not built into the design of the building, Bouchard said.
