Lincoln Academy Head of School Jay Pinkerton will start a new job as principal of Morse High School at the end of the school year.
The 155-year-old public high school in Bath has 622 students.
Pinkerton will start work Aug. 1, a month after his last day at Lincoln Academy.
“I feel good about this,” Pinkerton reportedly said. “I’m ready for a new start. When you’ve been at the same place for 17 years, that’s a long time. I’m very excited about going to Morse.”
Regional School Unit 1 Superintendent Patrick Manuel told a news agency, the search committee was impressed with Pinkerton’s accountability, character and people skills.
Last July, Pinkerton said he would step down in 2013 after 17 years as an administrator at the Newcastle high school and almost seven years as head of school.
The Lincoln Academy board of trustees selected Fryeburg Academy Principal David Sturdevant to succeed Pinkerton in March.
