The Lincoln County Animal Shelter (LCAS) received several new appliances, and large ticket items over the past few weeks, much to the delight of Kelly Patton Brook, who works closely with the organization and is a LCAS Board of Directors member.
Martha Scudder, who owns Oak Gables Bed and Breakfast in Damariscotta, donated a new dishwasher and stackable washer/dryer, and a bench for the gazebo; Doug and Mary Craig donated a shop vac and funds to install the appliances, and Ruth Guillard of Boothbay donated to purchase the lawnmower. Plumber Arthur Waltz, and electrician Matthew Wade will perform the installations.
“We are all very pleased,” said Brook. She also mentioned that the organization is looking for people from the Damariscotta/Newcastle area to be on the board.
Ben Rand, who works for LCAS, said he was thrilled with the new washer/dryer. LCAS will use the new washer/dryer in the building that houses the sick cats, so the staff is no longer required to take soiled blankets into the other buildings, which may expose healthy animals to diseases, Rand said.
The LCAS is located at 27 Atlantic Highway in Edgecomb and is open six days a week, with Mon.-Fri., from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sat., 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
