A new partnership of The Lincoln County News and the Bangor Daily News will enable The Lincoln County News to better serve its readers with in-depth coverage of state government.
The newspapers will share select content. The Lincoln County News will primarily draw on the work of the Bangor Daily News State House Bureau to inform its readership about issues with a direct impact on Lincoln County and its residents.
The Bangor Daily News will primarily look to The Lincoln County News for breaking news coverage to complement the work of its Midcoast staff.
The newspapers started to share articles in May and have since agreed to continue the relationship.
“We are proud to announce this partnership,” Lincoln County News Editor Sherwood Olin said. “The Bangor Daily News, like The Lincoln County News, is a family-owned newspaper with a long history of serving its readers with integrity and outstanding journalism.”
The partnership will enable LCN readers to follow the work of their representatives in Augusta and read about other state issues.
Bangor Daily News articles to appear in The Lincoln County News have addressed fishery regulations, Wiscasset-area Rep. Tim Marks’ bill to target repeat OUI offenders, and rate increases for Central Maine Power Company customers.
“These articles and others exemplify the benefit of this partnership to The Lincoln County News and its readers – comprehensive reporting on statewide issues that affect the people of Lincoln County,” Olin said.
Lincoln County News articles to appear in the Bangor Daily News include breaking news items like a helicopter crash in Whitefield, Gov. Paul LePage’s purchase of a home in Boothbay, and the discovery of a homicide victim’s remains in Jefferson.
“The partnership between the Bangor Daily News and The Lincoln County News is a great fit,” said Anthony Ronzio, director of news and audience for the BDN. “We’re happy to be able to serve their readers with in-depth news about Maine government, and their work is second-to-none in the Midcoast. We’re thrilled to be able to work together.”
