The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the public’s help in finding the individual(s) responsible for entering three private residences in Rt. 32 in Bremen sometime March 17.
According to an LCSO report, deputies are investigating separate complaints from three residents of their homes being entered during the day. All three residents live a short distance from each other.
According to the LCSO, one female resident was home and confronted the intruder. The woman was home alone at the time when she observed a strange man walk up her driveway and knock on her door. As she did not know the individual and she was home alone, she did not answer the door. After knocking a few times with no answer, the man opened the unlocked door and entered the home.
When the resident called out to the man, he quickly exited the house and ran off on foot. Once the woman’s husband returned home, the Sheriff’s Office was called and responded, however the intruder was not found. This woman described the man as a white male, tall and thin wearing a plaid jacket and a dark colored cap.
A male resident described an incident where he helped a woman who had apparently gotten her car stuck in mud at the end of his driveway. While he was assisting her, the woman asked if a man had knocked on his door asking to use the phone. He told her no one had.
After the car was free, the woman left the area. A few minutes later, the resident left his home to go to an appointment. A short distance from home, he passed a man walking along Route 32 and assumed he must be the man the woman in the car was looking for.
Later that evening, the resident returned home to find someone had entered his home and rummaged through his personal belongings. The man does not believe anything was taken.
He described the man as a young white male, tall and thin with dark hair wearing a baseball cap and a plaid jacket. The woman is described as a white female, heavy set with dark hair pulled back and wearing glasses. She possibly had a tattoo on her upper chest. The woman was operating a silver Buick four door sedan with front wheel drive and bald tires on the front.
The third home entered was in the same area and no one was home at the time. The home was rummaged through and a small safe was smashed open. Nothing was discovered stolen.
In two of these incidents, there were delays in reporting, according to the LCSO. The public is encouraged to contact law enforcement as soon as possible when an incident occurs. A delay of even minutes can often make the difference in solving the crime.
Even if, a person is just suspicious of a person or situation, it is always best to report the incident as it may be part of more widespread activity.
This investigation in ongoing and all current leads are being followed up on by Deputies and Detectives from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. The public is being asked if anyone may have had contact with either of these persons to contact the Criminal Investigation Division 882-7332.
