Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On June 28, Deputy Kenneth Hatch took a report of a theft of a chainsaw (value: $400) in the Alna area. Further investigation to follow if leads develop.
June 28, Tony D. Thurman, 48, of Edgecomb, was issued a summons for operating after suspension, on U.S. Route 1, Nobleboro, by Deputy Caleb Poirier.
June 24, Richard B. Fredette, 42, of Albion, was arrested on a Belfast District Court warrant for unpaid fines, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Transport Deputy Michael Gustafson.
June 24, Jeremy M. Taylor, 26, of Wiscasset, was arrested for domestic violence assault and domestic violence criminal mischief, on West Alna Road, Wiscasset, by Deputy Chad Gilbert, who was assisted by Detective Jared Mitkus.
June 25, Jennifer J. Blomquist, 41, of Dresden, was arrested for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and burglary, on Gardiner Road, Dresden, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.
June 27, Max C. Goltermann, 28, of Naperville, Ill., was arrested for operating under the influence, on School Street, Boothbay, by Deputy Poirier.
On June 23, an accident occurred on Snead Spur in Newcastle involving Judith A. Getchell, 75, of Dresden. Getchell was operating her 2003 Toyota Highlander southbound when she stated she fell asleep at the wheel. As a result, her vehicle traveled down over an embankment, passed under a guide wire to a telephone pole, traveled across an access road to a preserve parking area, entered a wooded area, and came to rest on a steep cliff over U.S. Route 1. Her vehicle then slid off the ledge and landed upside down, pinning Getchell. Deputy Mark Bridgham was the investigating officer.
On June 24, an accident occurred on S Road in South Bristol involving Linda B. Johnson, 81, of Shaker Heights, Ohio. Johnson was operating her 2008 Subaru Outback eastbound when she stated she fell asleep. The vehicle went off the roadway and into a tree. Deputy Bridgham was the investigating officer.
On June 24, an accident occurred on Route 32 in Bristol involving Sharon M. Dirico, 72, of Baldwinville, Mass., and Megan J. Schneid, 46, of New York, N.Y. Dirico was backing her 2009 Honda Civic out of a parking spot at Shaw’s Wharf when she failed to see Schneid’s legally parked 2003 Subaru Impreza, which was unoccupied, and struck it. Deputy Bridgham was the investigating officer.
On June 24, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Scott C. Fraser, 60, of Rockport. Fraser was operating his 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan northbound when a deer ran into the roadway and struck the driver’s side of his vehicle. Deputy Collamore was the investigating officer.
On June 24, an accident occurred on Gardiner Road in Dresden involving Melonie T. Coutts, 33, of West Gardiner. Coutts was operating her 2011 Toyota Corolla northbound when a deer ran out of a wooded area and struck the front of her vehicle. Deputy Hatch was the investigating officer.
On June 25, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Wiscasset involving Christopher L. Covel, 56, of Jefferson, and Irving B. Ruppel, 75, of Kenmore, N.Y. Covel was operating his 2004 Toyota Tacoma northbound and Ruppel was operating his 2005 Ford Gulf Stream motor home southbound in the area of the Flood Avenue intersection. Covel fell asleep, crossed the centerline, and entered the southbound lane in the path of Ruppel’s vehicle. Ruppel attempted to avoid Covel’s vehicle by steering right, but both units collided within the southbound travel lane. Covel’s vehicle crossed back into the northbound travel lane and entered the northbound ditch, where it came to rest. Ruppel’s vehicle came to rest in the southbound travel/breakdown lanes. Sgt. Jason Nein was the investigating officer.
On June 25, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Rebecca A. Dolloff, 63, of Boothbay, and David Andrews, 67, of South Bristol. Dolloff was operating her 2000 Subaru Outback northbound and Andrews was operating his 2007 Toyota Tacoma southbound. As Dolloff was proceeding forward, the rear driver’s side tire broke free from the car. As a result, the tire bounced across Route 27 into Andrews’ vehicle as Andrews was proceeding forward. Sgt. Daniel Sceviour was the investigating officer.
On June 26, an accident occurred on State Park Road in Jefferson involving Tiara Lilley, 24, of Fredericksburg, Va. and Daniel W. Taylor, 28, of Warren. Taylor was operating his 2008 GMC Sierra northbound on Waldoboro Road in Jefferson when Lilley attempted to make a left turn, leaving Damariscotta Lake State Park, in her 2012 Chevrolet Express van. Lilley stated she did not see Taylor’s vehicle as she exited the park and Taylor was unable to avoid striking the side of Lilley’s van. Sgt. Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
On June 27, an accident occurred on State Route 129 in South Bristol involving William N. Cunningham, 25, of Bristol. Cunningham was operating his 1995 M900 motorcycle southbound when he hit a groove in the road. This caused the motorcycle to wobble and lose control and as a result, the motorcycle went down on the road and ejected Cunningham. Deputy Justin Drake was the investigating officer.
On June 29, an accident occurred on Route 27 in Edgecomb involving Tara J. Bowers, 53, of Kernersville, N.C., and David A. Haggett, 67, of West Bath. Bowers’ 2015 Chrysler 200 was directly in front of Haggett’s 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser and stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Boothbay Road and Route 1 southbound. Bowers started from a complete stop and stopped again due to oncoming traffic. Haggett started to move and hit Bowers’ rear bumper. Deputy Joel Seekins was the investigating officer.
