Sunny skies greeted hundreds of bargain seekers Wednesday as the Lincoln Home presented its annual Founders’ Day sale and auction.
As guests searched the tents for treasurers, home administrator Lynn Norgang said this year’s sale will help fund a handicapped accessible van for the residents.
“We are thankful for the members of the women’s clubs of Lincoln County and our cadre of dedicated volunteers that help us put on the sale,” she said.
She offered a special thanks to auctioneer Bob Foster who presided over the sale of furniture and other treasurers for the 30th year in a row, she said.
On the block for this year’s sale were more than 380 items, including a 1978 VW convertible.
Lincoln Academy Head of School, Jay Pinkerton, took time out from his busy summer preparing for the fall semester to check out the Kelly green VW.
“It has been sitting a while,” he said as he peered into the engine compartment.
“She has had some wear, but not too bad,” said Pinkerton, a car buff.
Lincoln Home features 34 assisted living rooms and four independent living apartments, Norgang said.
