A 45-year-old local man faces terrorizing and threatening charges after allegedly threatening to shoot and kill a female relative at his Nobleboro residence June 16.
Michael W. Innes faces class C charges of domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence terrorizing with a dangerous weapon, both felonies.
A Lincoln County grand jury indicted Innes on the charges Sept. 9. A class C crime carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Lt. Michael Murphy, of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, said Innes, while intoxicated, brandished a .380-caliber handgun and threatened to kill the woman if she called law enforcement.
The woman called law enforcement. “She stayed on the phone till we got there,” Murphy said.
Sgt. Brendan Kane and Deputy Jared Mitkus arrived and arrested Innes without incident. “They did find a loaded handgun,” Murphy said.
Innes is due to appear for arraignment in Lincoln County Superior Court in Wiscasset at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 25.
He is free on $15,000 cash bail. His bail conditions prohibit contact with the woman, prohibit the possession or use of alcohol or dangerous weapons, including firearms; and require Innes to report weekly to the sheriff’s office and submit to random searches and tests.
Innes currently resides with another relative in Wiscasset.
Innes’ attorney, James Lawley, did not respond to a request for comment.
