The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in advance of weather system forecast to arrive on late Thursday night and bring a mix of snow, sleet and rain through Friday.
The Winter Weather Advisory (the lowest level of NWS alert) begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday and continues through 4 p.m. Friday. The storm front is forecast to arrive late Thursday evening as snow and continue through the night, developing into sleet and rain as temperatures slowly rise through the day, according to combined forecasts.
This storm is “track dependent”, and any small changes in course could bring either more rain or snow, according to forecasters. Likewise, Lincoln County peninsulas are likely to see more rain than snow, while the opposite applies for inland areas, according to forecasts.
Presently, the forecast for the morning commute on Friday indicates a wintry mix changing over to rain between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m., with temps forecast to continue to remain above freezing once the changeover occurs, according to intellicast.com.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it becomes available.
