The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Wind Advisory for Lincoln County in regard to an approaching nor’easter. While this event is forecast to bring sustained winds in the 20-30 mph range and some mixed precipitation, it will be a minor event compared with the recent visit of Hurricane Sandy.
The first precipitation from the storm is forecast to arrive Wednesday afternoon as rain and snow, then continue to develop during the overnight hours. By mid Thursday morning the precipitation should changeover to rain and winds will have diminished, according to the NWS.
Less than 3 inches of snow is forecast for Lincoln County, and any accumulation will likely be washed away by rainfall, according to the NWS. The highest winds, gusting to 50 mph, are expected along the immediate coast during the evening and nighttime hours of Wednesday, according to the NWS.
The Wind Advisory is effect from 4 p.m. on Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday.
