Newcastle’s John A. Okie’s bid to overturn his double murder conviction has been rejected by the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.
In a ruling handed down Tuesday, the court rejected his argument that the trial judge miscalculated his 60-year sentence and should have told jurors what would have happened if they found him criminally responsible by reason of insanity.
Okie was convicted of the 2007 bludgeoning Alexandra “Aleigh” Mills to death and slaying his father John S. Okie six days later.
The court decision was unanimous.
