A two-car collision in Dresden last week sent the two operators to different hospitals.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred around 10:25 a.m., Jan. 13 at the intersection of Rt. 27 and Common Road.
The LCSO reports the accident involved Steven Laundrie, 52, of Randolph, who was traveling south on Rt. 27 in a 2002 Honda Civic and Joyce MacDiarmid, 84, of Dresden, was operating a 2002 Subaru Impreza station wagon on Common Road.
According to police, MacDiarmid failed to see the Laundrie vehicle and began a left turn onto Rt. 27. Laundrie applied his brakes and steered left in an attempt to avoid a collision, however both vehicles collided in the intersection.
MacDiarmid was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston and Laundrie was taken to Parkview Hospital in Brunswick where he was treated and released. Central Maine Medical Center would only confirm that MacDiarmid is no longer a patient there.
Deputy Peter Kenyon is the primary investigating officer and Sgt. Jason Nein is conducting a reconstruction of the collision. Members of the Dresden Fire and First Responders as well as Northeast Ambulance personnel responded.
No charges are being contemplated and this crash remains under investigation.
