A trio of police raids over a two-day period in Lincoln County late last week resulted in the arrests of five people on drug charges, according to Maine State Police spokesperson Steve McCausland.
The raids were conducted Sept. 29 and 30 by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA), the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), the Maine State Police, the Maine Warden Service, and the Waldoboro Police Dept. (WPD).
On Sept. 29 Alan Beaucage, 34, of Alna was charged with possession of marijuana class C after MDEA agents, sheriff’s deputies and the Maine State Warden Service conducted a search of his residence on the Alna Rd. The search resulted in the discovery of marijuana growing behind Beaucage’s house.
Upon searching the residence, agents seized about two pounds of drying marijuana buds, scales and eight marijuana plants. The marijuana has a street value of $2000 to $2500 a pound, according to police.
On Sept. 30 in Edgecomb, Brandon Nelson, 25, already under bail conditions stemming from a July arrest, was rearrested after police searched his hotel room at the Sheepscot River Inn.
This is Nelson’s second arrest on charges of aggravated heroin trafficking in nine weeks. He was previously charged after MDEA officers, State Police and LCSO Deputies found heroin and Oxycontin while executing a search warrant on his Wiscasset home July 23.
Nelson and Alex Farnsworth, 25, both of Wiscasset were arrested and charged with Aggravated Trafficking Heroin class A. The charge is aggravated due to the recovery of several loaded firearms from the hotel room, a .40 caliber handgun and a .357 rifle.
Sheriff’s Deputies and MDEA agents found 9.1 grams of heroin not yet packaged for resale, about 300 new heroin bags the heroin was allegedly going to put into and scales to allegedly weigh the product.
Agents also seized 11 Suboxone pills that have a combined street value of $110, according to police. Once packed, the heroin would make between 400 to 450 bags, according to police. Nelson and Farnswoth were allegedly selling the bags for $20 apiece, making the heroin worth about $8000 to $9000 on the streets of Lincoln County, according to police.
Both Nelson and Farnsworth were taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail. Nelson was also charged with Violations of Conditions of Release. Prior to his arrest, Nelson made his initial court appearance on his original charge earlier the same day.
More charges and arrests related to this case are expected in the next several weeks, according to police.
