Wiscasset’s Schools Advisory Group for Educational Success, or SAGES, will hold a forum featuring both sides of the RSU 12 withdrawal debate Wed., Oct. 26.
RSU 12 Superintendent Greg Potter, Board of Directors Chair Hilary Holm, and Finance Committee Chair Gerry Nault will be representing the “pro-RSU” camp at the debate.
Wiscasset Selectman Ed Polewarczyk will represent the Board of Selectmen on the panel. State Rep. Les Fossel (R-Alna) has agreed to moderate.
The two-hour debate will feature an eight question, 80-minute round of prepared questions, covering the basic pros, cons, and costs of withdrawing from RSU 12.
Following the prepared questions, the audience will be given time to ask questions of the panelists for 35 minutes.
The total time of the debate will be roughly two hours.
SAGES is currently looking for more participants to represent the side advocating withdrawal from RSU 12.
SAGES is a new organization that brings together parents and school representatives to “support a positive interconnected K-12 experience” in Wiscasset schools. Ginger Wehrle was selected as the group’s Chair at their first meeting Sept. 20. Wiscasset High School Principal Deb Taylor was elected the Secretary.
The debate will be held at 6 p.m. in the Wiscasset High School Library.
Those who would like to participate in the debate or submit questions for the panel’s perusal can email SAGES at sages123@ymail.com.
