Prescott Brackett, 18, the son of Lincoln County Sheriff Todd Brackett was summonsed into court Halloween night for trafficking in Scheduled Drugs – marijuana.
Damariscotta Police Sgt. Chad P. Andrews said Brackett and two male juveniles were stopped on the street in downtown Damariscotta on Halloween evening.
Brackett was involved in the sale of a small amount of marijuana involving an undercover officer, Andrews said. He declined to describe the circumstances of the alleged sale.
Andrews was careful to say Prescott Brackett was not arrested; he was summonsed into court on a Class D Misdemeanor charge of trafficking in scheduled drugs.
Andrews said Brackett’s father was called, however, he declined to discuss what Brackett said.
Calls to the sheriff for comment were not returned by press time.
“We handled this like any other case, but obviously this is a special case,” said Andrews.
Prescott Brackett was ordered to appear in court on Dec. 16.
