A Somerville man was charged in Knox County Jan. 29 with burglary and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, after a Dec. 19 incident in Warren.
Scott L. Schultz, 47, was charged with taking metal valued at more than $12,000 from a storage facility belonging to Lie-Nielsen Tool Toolworks in Warren, Dec. 19. Court documents say the metal was in the form of machine parts.
Schultz was identified by suspected accomplice Daniel Boyce, 38, of Warren. Boyce was being held at Knox County Jail on charges of burglary, theft and trespass by motor vehicle in December when he told Knox County Deputy Nathaniel Jack the stolen items were taken from a storage building on the corner of the Depot and Stirling roads in Warren. The machine parts were identified by business owner Thomas Lie-Nielsen.
Boyce told Jack that Schultz had said it would be alright to take the items, court documents state.
After loading the machine parts into a truck, the pair drove north on Finntown Road toward Route 1, where they were pulled over by police.
Boyce said Schultz threatened him and told him not to tell police he was involved. Boyce told police Schultz was with him during the theft but not an accomplice. Police allege Boyce gave a false description of the location from which the items had been taken.
Schultz is scheduled to appear in Knox County Superior Court March 27. Boyce is scheduled to appear later this month.
