There are just a few spots left in Hidden Valley Nature Center’s upcoming Kids Cross-Country Ski Clinic beginning on Saturday, Jan. 4 with a free kickoff clinic. Starting on Jan. 4, and continuing for an additional five Saturdays until Feb. 8, participants ages 4-14 will spend an hour-and-a-half each morning working on the basics of cross-country skiing. Participants will be divided into groups based on experience and skill level, and will work with a skilled and enthusiastic ski instructor.
Coaches for the clinic this year will be Kolleen Cass, Annie Nixon, Lili Pugh and Megan Phillips – all experienced coaches, skiers, and outdoor educators. Cass and Pugh have skied competitively. Phillips and Nixon bring loads of back country ski experience. Most importantly they bring their enthusiasm for healthy outdoor fun in winter.
HVNC prides itself on fun, and this clinic is no exception. Participants will learn by playing games and exploring HVNC’s 30 miles of trails in a non-competitive atmosphere. All skills levels are encouraged to register.
Interested families and individuals should register online at www.hvnc.org/registration/. Please note that anyone interested in the free kickoff clinic still should register online because space is limited. Participants can register for the full clinic in advance, or they can wait until after the kickoff clinic on Jan. 4.
Clinic details are available online at http://hvnc.org/xc-ski-clinic/. Registration fees range between $40-$60. Discounts apply for HVNC membership, as well as for siblings. Limited scholarship assistance is available. Space is limited, please sign up early. For more information please email kmohrstone@yahoo.com.
