Over 800 Lincoln County households are still without power following a violent storm that passed through the area overnight on Wednesday, according to Central Maine Power (CMP). More thunderstorms are in the forecast for Thursday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
By far the hardest hit area of power outages is Whitefield, with 697 homes without power, according to CMP report at 11:59 a.m. on Thursday. Jefferson ranks as second, with 108 homes without power. Significantly smaller outages are also reported in Somerville, South Bristol and Waldoboro, according to CMP.
Unstable weather conditions are still present in Lincoln County, according to forecasters. The first Severe Thunderstorm Warning on Thursday was issued just after noon in New Hampshire followed almost immediately by another Severe Thunderstorm Warning south of Lewiston in Maine. These storms were along a line that is marching steadily toward Lincoln County, with weather expected to begin in the afternoon hours and continue well into the night, according to the NWS. High winds, dangerous lightning, hail and heavy rainfall have all been associated with these storms.
