On the morning of Jan. 2, Commissioners Mary Trescot and Hamilton Meserve and Judge of Probate Thomas Merry were sworn in by Secretary of State Charlie Summers in the Lincoln County Superior courtroom.
Merry entered his seventh term as judge of probate after running unopposed in the November 2012 election. Merry was first elected to the post in 1988.
Trescot was elected over the District 3 incumbent Sheridan Bond. Meserve ran unopposed for the District 1 Commissioner’s seat, replacing Lynn Martin, who retired.
At the meeting of the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners directly following the ceremony, the commissioners made several appointments.
Trescot was appointed to be the commissioners’ representative to the Coastal Counties Workforce Board and the Lincoln and Sagadahoc Multicounty Jail Authority.
Merserve was appointed as the commissioners’ representative to the Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission Board of Directors.
