A 17-year-old Waldoboro youth was hospitalized after he was struck by a car on the Winslow Mills Rd. July 9.
Travis Hoffses, 17, of Waldoboro was struck by a 2009 Honda, four door sedan, operated by Roberta Marion, 82, Waldoboro around 3:30 p.m. Friday. According to witnesses, Hoffses was dropped off on the side of the road, kneeled to pick something up and proceeded to cross the street without looking.
According to Richard Curtis, who dropped off Hoffses, the victim rotated 360 degrees in the air before landing on the road. Hoffses was still conscious after being hit, and attempted to get up before falling to the ground. He was able to turn himself over.
“[Travis] said he thought he broke his jaw, legs, and arms, “said Curtis. “He was in extreme pain.”
Hoffses was evacuated by Waldoboro emergency services. Marion was interviewed by police and allowed to leave the scene by car. Her Honda sustained an estimated $500 damage.
According to Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde, Hoffses was transferred to Maine General Hospital and ultimately released. He lost several teeth and broke his jaw.
“He was in the police station the next day saying how he was going to look both ways from now on, ” said Chief Labombarde.
