Central Maine Power Company (CMP) is reporting that 5892 Lincoln County households were without power in the morning hours of Thursday. The power outages are the result of high winds that are forecast to continue to buffet Lincoln County through the day.
Every town in Lincoln County has outages, but Jefferson, Nobleboro and Bristol have been particularly hard hit with outages exceeding 1000 for each of those towns.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a High Wind Warning advising that sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 60 mph can be expected on Thursday. Winds will be from the south in the morning hours and then shift to southwest and west by mid to late morning, according to the NWS.
The High Wind Warning remains in effect until 5 p.m. Thursday evening.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it is obtained.
