A parade of trucks gathered at the home of Harvey Perkins to pay tribute to a father, friend, and fellow truck driver who lost his life in a recent truck accident. The truck drivers drove in processional homage to Perkins on their way to Highland Hill Cemetery on Rt. 126 in Jefferson, Oct. 15.
“He will never be forgotten,” said Perkins’ son, John Brann.
Brann, 22, said that his father was well known in the area. Perkins often ate at Mazie’s and Pike’s restaurants.
“He used to sit around that big, round table and talk with all of the truck drivers,” said Brann.
According to a family friend, Perkins’ daughter asked all present at the cemetery to wave toward the sky and to tell Perkins to “keep on truckin.”
Perkins had recently purchased his own truck. Family and friends said he died doing something he loved.
