Two men are in custody following the peaceful conclusion of a standoff on Upper East Road in Nobleboro this morning.
Lincoln County Sheriff Todd Brackett reported two men, identified as Kody Wallace, 19, and Thomas Powell, 21, were arrested on outstanding warrants after keeping state and local law enforcement at bay for approximately nine hours.
According to Brackett, the incident began when deputies responded to loud noise complaint at approximately 1:50 Friday morning.
When deputies arrived at the residence, things were pretty quiet Brackett said. Just as deputies were preparing to leave the scene, a woman came out of the house and told deputies there was a man with a knife inside the house, Brackett said.
Deputies subsequently confronted a man, later identified as Wallace, 19. At that time of this contact Wallace did not appear to have a knife, Brackett said. Wallace allegedly threatened the deputies, telling them he would hurt them if they came inside the house at that time. Suspecting there were firearms in the house, deputies backed off and attempted to negotiate with Wallace.
Negotiations were unsuccessful and LCSO contacted the state police tactical team at approximately 3:30 a.m. Brackett said. Wallace and Powell were taken into custody without incident around 8:30 a.m.
“The state tactical team, along with our units here, were able to bring the situation to a peaceful end,” Brackett said.
The situation remains under investigation, Brackett said and more charges may be forthcoming.
