Knox County Sheriff’s Office charged two people involved in a string of thefts from the towns of St. George, Warren, Cushing, Friendship, Union, Thomaston, and Waldoboro.
In recent months towns have been reporting thefts of street signs from all over the county worth an estimated value over $5000.
Following up on some information, KCSO Deputies Nathan Jack, James Moore and Detective Don Murray found 61 various street signs at a location in St. George.
Troy Crane of Port Clyde and Zechariah Meibaum of Cushing, both 20 years old have been charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Violation of Condition of Release, related to previous criminal activity. The two suspects first court appearance is Nov. 14, 2011 to answer to the charges.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office are continuing their investigations relating to these thefts to hopefully recover more soon and return them to the respective towns.
