The Damariscotta Board of Selectmen will meet Thurs., June 23 at 10 a.m. at the Damariscotta Municipal Building to determine the date of a run-off election and sign the necessary paperwork.
The runoff is required as Board Chairman Dick McLean and former Selectman Josh Pinkham tied in the June 14 election. A June 20 recount revealed an even closer three-way race for two seats on the Board than initially reported.
Incumbent Vicki Pinkham remained on top with 233 votes. McLean and Pinkham tied with 232 votes each.
The originally tally had Vicki Pinkham in the lead with 235 votes, followed by McLean with 232 and Josh Pinkham with 229.
Eric Conrad, a Maine Municipal Association spokesman, said the candidate with the highest vote tally, in this case Vicki Pinkham, has won election to one seat.
McLean or Josh Pinkham could have voluntarily dropped out within seven days of the election, Conrad said, but that deadline has passed.
McLean, as the incumbent, will retain his seat until the town holds a run-off election, Conrad said. The town must wait at least 45 days to hold the run-off election.
