Medical examiners ruled that the death of a man found in Waldoboro early this year was caused by methadone toxicity and was accidental.
On Jan. 6, police identified the body of 37-year-old Jeffery Stone, who was found outside his brother’s, Charlie Stone’s, house at 1107 Goshen Rd. in Waldoboro at around 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 5.
At the time, police said there was no indication of foul play, but an autopsy was conducted. The autopsy confirmed police suspicions, and the State Police investigation is closed, said State Police Spokesman Steve McCausland.
“This was another sad drug-related death in Maine,” McCausland said.
McCausland said no progress report was available regarding the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s investigation into where Stone obtained the drugs.
