On Friday, Nov. 20, detectives from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 48-year-old Waldoboro man for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage boy in Damariscotta. Adam McDonough was charged with class C sexual abuse of a minor and unlawful sexual contact.
These charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Damariscotta Police Department into a report that a 14-year-old boy had been sexually assaulted by a man he had met and befriended over the past year. The boy only knew the man as “Adam.”
An extensive investigation, including surveillance of the area where the assault had occurred, was conducted. Through their efforts, investigators were able to locate and identify the suspect as McDonough.
After questioning, McDonough was arrested and transported to the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. He was later released on $2,000 bail with conditions of having no contact with the victim or any children under the age of 18.
The sheriff’s office asks anyone with more information about the investigation to call Detective Scott Hayden at 882-7332.
