Detective Lance Mitchell and Officer Sean Kozer from the Waldoboro Police Dept. arrested Scott Elwell, 47, of South Thomaston on July 21, for attempting to pass four counterfeit $20 bills at the Rockland Savings Bank, Rt. 1 Waldoboro.
According to a press release from Waldoboro Police, the officers allegedly found another $320 in forged $20 bills after searching Elwell.
During a subsequent search of his vehicle, officers found a loaded handgun, brass knuckles, a knife and other weapons considered to be dangerous, 10 containers of bath salts as well as drug paraphernalia, Oxycodone and Methadone, the press release said.
Elwell was arrested and charged with Class B Aggravated Forgery and Threatening display or carrying a “Concealed Weapon,” Class D.
Elwell was also charged with Possession of Synthetic Hallucinogenic Drugs (Bath Salts). This case is still under investigation; additional charges are pending.
