School Administrative District (SAD) 40, which includes the Miller School, Medomak Middle School and Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro, has announced that the first day of school will be postponed.
There will be no school on Mon., Aug. 29, according to the SAD 40 website. Instead the school year will begin on Tues., Aug.30.
No reason was given for the closure, but it does follow on the heels of Tropical Storm Irene’s Sunday visit to the region, which has left many roads blocked by downed trees and electrical wires and thousands of households without power.
